A short documentary for Mixmag following Brazilian house artist Mochakk as his Mixmag Lab set traveled to Maputo — and what it sparked in the city's emerging music community.
Shot over three days in Maputo, this piece sits at the intersection of music journalism and cultural portraiture. The aim was never a concert film; it was a document of what happens when an international moment lands in a city whose scene has been quietly building for years.
We followed Mochakk from studio to street to stage, and spent as much time with the local DJs, promoters and dancers who hosted him as we did with the headline artist himself. The cuts live between the two — global electronic culture and the specific, un-exported texture of Maputo nightlife.
Edited for Mixmag's long-form channel. A companion photo essay ran alongside it, reframing the week from a stills perspective.
